    Member Feedback

  • Raymond Fenech, CFP member - "I just wanted you (all Canadian writers budding or established) to thank your lucky stars that you have people like Tracy and the CFP to take care of you.

In my country, there are only a few existing established writers - and budding writers have to do like I did, make their own way by trial and error.

Established writers here DO NOT share their experiences with new writers like Tracy and so many others do in Canada. Their experiences, both publishing and writing are a "trade secret".

So please take it from me and be thankful to the CFP and all those established in the literary world on your side of the world who are so generous and helpful. THANK YOU TRACY, AND THE CFP, I AM ETERNALLY GRATEFUL! GOD BLESS YOU!"

    NEW BOOKS LISTED

Be sure to check out in the CFPShop section these new books from members. They make great gifts!

  • October - AKA "The Halloween month". I always think of pumpkins when October hits the calendar, and the lovely colour of orange, and the orange leaves, and the absolute beauty that fills in our landscape like a paint by numbers. If you have kids, this is a great month to do some poetry with them, all the ghouls and goblins and witches and treats. If not, do a remembrance poem - your childhood Halloweens - pillow cases or plastic pumpkins full of goodies you weren't allowed to eat, but you would always sneak just one. Post them on the CFPForum, and have fun with them. And as always, commit to attending at least one poetry event a month, write at least one new poem a month, and send a 'poem' letter to a friend as a birthday greeting or just to say hi. Let's educate society that everywhere you turn - THAT IS POETRY!

If you have any ideas, questions, or want to start a Federation in your area, let me know!

    Send me an email.

Last issue we talked about taking advantage of our publicity, and getting your book details to us for listing on the CFP website, and announced in the newsletter - this month we are going to take a look at your member bio/listing.

3 Easy ways of getting more from your membership!

Most members are listed in the members section, and this is a very good thing. You have a membership to something, so this isn't the time to become shy.

    1. Check to make sure your name appears in the Members Bios section.

    2. Next, have you told us to add a website link?
If you have a website, let us know. We can add the link to your name, and when somebody goes to check it out, they can find your website, and get to really know you. A website is an invaluable tool in getting the word out about who you are, and what you do.
An example of a members site that does this well is Lori A May

    3. For those of you without a website (and I will help you out next month with this issue), then send in a few paragraphs about yourself, and if you have it, a picture in .jpg format. At least when they see your name, they can find out a little bit about you. Sharing about yourself creates Affinity with your reader, Communicates to them about what experiences you have had, and what you have done, and this establishes a Reality between you and your fellow poets. It is an amazing tool called the ARC Triangle, and can immediately help you connect with others.

An example of member who submitted some information to us is Raymond Fenech Also, be sure to check out his essay "Poetry as a Communication Medium", it is great reading!

So, let's start taking advantage of this, and create some ARC!

If you aren't a CFP member and would like to increase the traffic to your website, or tell others about yourself - it is easy to JOIN! We're here to help!
